🎶Our DJs Building on the joy and connection of our inaugural Encuentro, we've put real thought into the music for this edition. We wanted to bring back some of the DJs whose sets you loved most, while also welcoming new voices into our community.
Each DJ we've invited is a leader in their community, actively supporting the growth of Tango Milonguero dancing. In selecting them, I sought to honor their dedication, artistry, and the way they nurture our dance culture.
We can't wait to dance to the music they've chosen with love, experience, and care for our community.

Andy Stein has been DJing tango since 2012, at Encuentros and Marathons across the U.S. and Europe. He is crafting musical journeys—mixing classic Golden Age favorites with a few surprises to keep things fresh.
Andy was one of the top DJs in our inaugural Encuentro in 2026 and we are very happy to have him again.
His tandas are sequenced to create a pleasant energy flow on the dance floor, blending romantic, dramatic, rhythmic, lyrical, playful, and intense moods. He uses a monitor to show current and upcoming tandas, helping dancers pick the right partner. During the pandemic, Andy started hosting weekly Zoom milongas called Tandas Around the World, giving dancers a chance to connect, chat, and enjoy great music from home. He also launched Milonga as a Service (MaaS)—a 24/7 online tango stream that’s totally free and open to everyone at tinyurl.com/milongaas.

Shahin Medghalchi ’s music style is deeply rooted in traditional Argentine tango,
specifically from the Golden Era.
As a DJ, she is known for creating an immersive experience with her tandas since 2001, which cater to dancers of all levels. Her passion for the genre shines through in her music selection, which is designed to keep dancers engaged and energized throughout the night.
Shahin's style is also influenced by her experience as a tango dancer since1995 and a teacher since 2003. She is trained with renowned tango masters from Buenos Aires and has taught Argentine tango in various settings. This expertise enables her to craft playlists that not only showcase the beauty of traditional tango but also captures the soul of social dancers.

Steve is a longtime dancer and avid tango traveler, including several months each year in Argentina, and numerous encuentros and marathons in Europe.His home tango community is Portland, Oregon USA. He DJs regularly at Portland and Seattle events, plus other west coast cities.
Steve's varied experience includes playing music at Encuentros, marathons, and milongas in Buenos Aires.

Cathy Knowlton began dancing tango in 2006 and DJ'ing in 2018, quickly becoming one of Vancouver's most sought-after DJs.
From 2020 to 2022, she studied with renowned DJs Horacio Pebete Godoy and Hernán Alvarez Prieto, immersing herself in Buenos Aires' milonguero culture—shaping her feel for the great orchestras and the art of building cohesive tandas.
Cathy was one of the top DJs at our inaugural Encuentro in 2026, and we're thrilled to have her back.
Her style centers on tango's golden age, balancing rhythmic and lyrical tandas with just enough drama to keep the floor alive. Nothing makes her happier than a full floor of smiling tangueros.

Pedro Dimitriu Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Pedro grew up during the renaissance of milongas in the 1980s.
Immersed in this rich cultural scene, he honed his DJ skills by learning from iconic Buenos Aires DJs, mastering the art of reading the floor. With over 15 years of experience, Pedro combines his deep musical knowledge with an intuitive understanding of what keeps dancers energized, making both the music and the crowd the center of every night.
A seasoned dancer himself, Pedro now calls Vancouver home, where he enjoys exploring the West Coast outdoors and delving into research on the human microbiome.
Immersed in this rich cultural scene, he honed his DJ skills by learning from iconic Buenos Aires DJs, mastering the art of reading the floor. Stephen Brady A trained musician and graduate in music history and theory from the University of Washington, Steve started dancing Argentine tango 20 years ago in Seattle.
Since then he has enjoyed dancing tango all over the world, including Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Quito (Ecuador), Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, and Auckland (New Zealand).
A DJ for over 12 years, Steve has been a popular presence on the DJ rotations at milongas in Seattle and throughout the Pacific Northwest. He’s also DJ’d at tango Encuentros in Port Townsend, San Francisco, Berkeley, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Santa Barbara, and New Orleans, as well as for Tango at Sea and Portland’s Valentango festival. Steve loves playing the best tango music from the “Golden Era” and keeps dancers on their feet with a lively mix of orchestras.
